Orloj

Twelve figures wait.
The hands move on.
Sun and moon cross the dial
from dusk to dawn.

The skeleton pulls the bell.
The hour reaches its end.
The rooster calls
and it starts again.

Seconds disappear.
No way to make them stay.
Another hour is coming.
Another slips away.

One more hour.
One more day.
You can count the time
you can't make it stay.

One more hour.
Then it's gone.
The clock keeps moving.
Time moves on.

Sunlight crosses the dial.
The moon changes its face.
Zodiac signs keep turning,
each one taking its place.

Twelve apostles appear.
Death reaches for the bell.
The rooster ends the show
another hour is gone.

A bell.
A pause.
The rooster calls.

And then

One more hour.
One more day.
You can count the time
you can't make it stay.

Hours turn to years.
Centuries move on.
The clock keeps turning.
Time moves on.
