One Last Waltz

The grand staircase waits in silence.
Crystal chandeliers paint the walls with light.
Behind an ivory lace mask
your eyes find mine.
Amber perfume lingers in the air.
My crinoline whispers
across the polished marble floor.
Tonight...
no one asks our names.

One last waltz.
One last night.
Before the candles lose their light.
Your white gloves
find my hand.
Every heartbeat understands.
The music knows
before we do...
Every beautiful dance
must end too.

Your black tailcoat
moves like midnight.
Silver cufflinks
catch every candle flame.
Silk follows every turn.
The gentle rustle
of my gown
becomes part of the melody.
No words.
Only perfume...
and the sound
of forever.

Faces hidden
behind delicate lace.
The mirrors remember
every smile.
Crystal light
falls across the marble.
For one brief moment
time itself
forgets to move.

One last waltz.
One last flame.
Tomorrow never stays the same.
The candles fade.
The mirrors shine.
Yet this final dance
will always be mine.
One last turn.
One last sigh.
Your perfume lingers
long after goodbye.
