Last Floor

Midnight elevator,
I press the number nine.
It passes my floor slowly,
and keeps on climbing high.

Last floor,
above the sleeping town.
Last floor,
no one else around.
My phone keeps ringing somewhere.
I let the elevator go.
For once I don't go home.

One door opens to the roof.
Cold air across my face.
The city looks so different
from this forgotten place.

Last floor,
above the sleeping town.
Last floor,
no one else around.
My phone keeps ringing somewhere.
I let the elevator go.
For once I don't go home.
