GREAT WALL

Dynasties rose and fell.
Soldiers watched the passes.
Signals crossed the distance,
from one post to the next.

Emperors changed.
Borders moved.
Centuries passed.

Built to keep the world outside,
now the world comes walking by.
Built for armies, built for war
that's not what people come here for.

Fortresses and gateways,
stretching across the land.
Different walls, different rulers,
joined by history's hand.

Emperors changed.
Borders moved.
Centuries passed.

Built to keep the world outside,
now the world comes walking by.
Built for armies, built for war
that's not what people come here for.

No empire lasts forever.
No border stays the same.
What once divided people
now draws the world this way.

Built to keep the world outside,
now the world comes walking by.
From watchtowers to footsteps
another age arrived.
